Summary: Responsible for the management of the day to day operations of state of the art marina facility being carried out efficiently and safely in accordance with all applicable laws and permits, including the site, Marina Staff, equipment, and all facilities that support the marina operations. Provides information and assistance to different departments and ensures highest level of service is being given to members and guests by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees marina operations.*
  • Acts as a liaison between members/guests, vendors, Executive Management, and any applicable local/state officials.*
  • Ensures Marina Staff and operation is maintaining the highest level of service in accordance with the company mission.*
  • Ensures marina operations and facilities are compliant with all applicable state laws, reporting requirements, and permits/licenses.*
  • Supervises the loading and unloading of vessels safely and efficiently to and from trailers.*
  • Assists vessels when docking including location of ships.*
  • Ensures all vessels are secured properly in their slips including adjusting lines, adjusting fenders, and ensuring all electrical cords and water hoses have adequate slack.*
  • Operates and docks vessels in a safe and proficient manner including securing vessels in a proper manner.*
  • Ensures all Marina Staff is proficient in operating and docking vessels in a safe and timely manner.*
  • Remains cognizant of amount of staging area available and keeps fuel dock accessible at all times.*
  • Ensures proper placement of vessels in the barns based on their length, beam, and height as well as to maximize barn occupancy and ensures Marian Staff is proficient in same manner.*
  • Maintains accurate inventory of barns and dock space.*
  • Manages staff selection, development, management, scheduling, and corrective action in compliance with the company policy and all applicable laws.*
  • Ensures the highest quality of customer service from themselves and the staff including attitude, appearance, and effort.*
  • Substitutes for Marina Staff as needed.*
  • Conducts safety meetings with staff to ensure an overall safe working environment at all times.*
  • Directs or assists with the ordering and purchasing of supplies needed for the day to day operations of the marina in accordance with company policy.*
  • Maintains the overall cleanliness of the property including the water and surrounding areas.*
  • Reports any and all concerns regarding the property to the Manager or Executive Management.*
  • Ensures all forklift drivers are properly trained and can exhibit proficiency in order to be certified if they are not already.*
  • Meets daily with the Assistant Harbormaster(s) if applicable to facilitate and review the day?s activities.*
  • Attends training recurrent seminars.*
  • Assists other departments when necessary.*
  • Maintains accurate record keeping for marina operations and facilities and ensures all vendor and customer files are complete in accordance with company policy.*
  • Ensures that the property is kept in a safe and clean condition at all times.*
  • Ensures all marina equipment such as but not limited to golf carts, marina skiff, and forklifts are properly maintained in accordance with company policy and any applicable laws.*
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as applicable to location.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages one to two subordinate supervisors depending on location who supervise a total of five employees in the Marina/Ships Store Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises five non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
